My paintings are primarily based on landscapes or nature. A sense of place, whether it’s the coast of Maine, a local neighborhood here in Massachusetts, or a more fanciful scene that exists in my imagination is what inspires me.

Sometimes I am entranced by the details within objects and the effect of light, and strive to render what I see as accurately as possible. At other times I enjoy starting with something real, and then making it more abstract so that the underlying subject is still there, but with a completely new meaning.
